Why Vegan?

It’s a question I’m often asked, and I don’t think it’s well understood.

People will say things like, "You don’t eat meat because you’re vegan, right?" as if it’s some kind of inconvenient religious or cultural obligation. That’s not it. I don’t eat meat because I recognize animals are living, feeling creatures. They feel fear. They feel pain. And I understand that their fear and pain are not necessary for me to meet my nutritional needs.

Do as you like. But it is important to remember that they do feel fear, and they do feel pain, and it’s not necessary for our health or happiness. Actually, it’s probably hurting our health and happiness.

Wishing for you and the other animals we share this planet with greater health and happiness.
