Start Again
For 88 weeks, I’ve been posting a weekly newsletter without miss, except for last week. To be fair, there was fairly good reason for the miss, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me. Still, in moments like this I’m reminded of two words: Start Again. These words gained significance for me over a decade ago while battling mental instability and building more helpful habits. It’s a simple reminder, but has been a powerful one in moments I feel helpless or lacking in my progress. For me Start Again, means acknowledging the challenge of consistency, and the triumph of continuing regardless of how far I’ve fallen.
It’s okay to fall and it’s beautiful when we choose to continue. It’s not truly failure, just a part of the process. A weekly newsletter is probably a trivial example, yet often even trivial failures can become barriers to our progress. I feel certain we could all use this reminder. Whatever it is that you want to keep doing, but stopped, it’s okay to start again. And if you fail, it will again be okay to start again. and if you do that 100 times or 1000 times, I suggest you see it as a 1000 triumphs, as opposed to failures.
Wishing you well,
Naser
