How Much Money Do I Make as a Creator?
$0.00
Being a creator these days is a peculiar experience. Most creators somehow also become part of the advertising machinery of companies, through direct sponsorships or affiliate programs. The challenge is you then need to balance the stories you want to tell with the stories you need to tell to meet your financial needs. To be clear, I don’t necessarily have anything against sponsors. I’d just prefer it not be an absolute necessity.
I want to create in a financially rewarding way, but not in a way that’s solely driven by the number of clicks my media can convert into customers. Having an audience or patrons support my work directly because they genuinely find value in it is much more motivating and satisfying.
When one of my favorite creators, Johnny Harris, started his channel, I signed up for a monthly $3 payment. I had so much gratitude for the stories he was choosing to tell, and the eloquence with which he told them, that I felt the need to express my gratitude and my desire for his success. To this day, I continue to support his work simply out of gratitude for its existence. So, inspired by that, I’ve started my very own $3 per month membership. There’s also a one-time option, and perhaps more options in the future. For now, the $3/month is an opportunity for you to show appreciation for the media I produce and support me in continuing this aspirational journey. My hope is it will also be a motivating force for me to hold up my promise to produce a quality of work that I’ll be proud to present.
Take care,
Naser
