Do What Excites
Popularized by YouTuber Kelly Wakasa, the phrase 'Do What Excites' strikes a chord, but the idea of following our excitement, especially when at a crossroads, is an old one.
Choosing excitement is a powerful tool, and I think a sorely underrated one. There are points at which we find ourselves between a route that excites us and the safer one, and our sense of excitement gives us a clear litmus test.
I long ago decided that I wanted to live a life worth living, and for me that means really always choosing the exciting route when at such crossroads. Excitement prompted me to move to China, to quit teaching twice and travel, and most recently to quit my video editing job and invest fully into my own creative path.
When we choose what excites, we're choosing where we really want to be, and that's where our energy is going to be most abundant. Arguably, living too impulsively may not be the answer to a life of stability. But more often than not, I'd argue if you're not quite sure what to do, then do what excites.
Wishing you well,
