Discipline is Hard

Discipline is a struggle mostly because it doesn’t live in a vacuum. It’s like having a plan, but then reality not matching it. It’s a compass that’s tricky to follow, but promises results if you heed it. Discipline isn’t easy but it’s still worth pursuing, building, and rebuilding. And when you inevitably fall astray, you can take out the compass and reorient back to your self determined true north, to the direction you’ve chosen as worthwhile pursuing. Discipline is both the river and the boat crossing it; the challenge and the solution. Discipline is a tightrope. A lack of focus or an adjustment too far in either direction is detrimental, but still when you fall you have the opportunity to try again and with each try you find your balance a little quicker and learn to stay centered a little longer.

I struggle with discipline. I sense a lot of us do. I wish you the enthusiasm to re-find your balance when you lose it.

Best,
Naser
