Dad's in the Hospital

and he'll be alright

3 weeks ago, Dad had a heart operation, that was thought to be low risk and effective in treating his long-term heart condition. The procedure went as expected, but complications soon followed. Inflammation in his lungs began restricting his breathing, eventually resulting in sedation and reliance on a breathing tube. Luckily this week has been a turning point. He’s awake. His lungs are recovering and his breathing is improving. Still, there will be a road ahead to a full recovery.

To say these past weeks have been challenging is an understatement. There have been some really scary days. In the worst moments, along with the fear, I also felt regret at not having expressed more gratitude to Dad. At other times, I was sobered in the understanding of how common and inevitable an experience like this is. I’m grateful Dad’s health is improving and that I was able to express more of my gratitude for having him as my father.

Dad’s doing better and he will be alright.
We appreciate your thoughts and well wishes.

Best,
