The Weekly Creators Community

TLDR: I made a free WhatsApp community to encourage you to post more. But let’s get into why.

If you listen to many successful creators, artists, or even athletes, they’ll break down a fundamental part of their success to practice, getting the reps in. Let me be clear, consistency isn’t all that matters, but it matters a lot. So does accountability and feedback. I’ve been lucky enough over the last couple of years to be part of a small group chat with two other creators, artists, and video makers who are attempting to build their online presence, share their art, and be rewarded for it. Yet, all three of us have very clearly struggled with consistency, at times starting up ambitious projects, only to give up shortly later. But even that has been practice. In time, we’ve found our own personal pitfalls and sources of motivation.

What we’re doing differently

I have joined too many creator-led communities only to be disappointed by a gross hierarchy and overemphasis on how to bring value to the pockets of the creators. That’s why I want this group to avoid monetizing the audience as much as possible. I think there are better, more equitable ways of rewarding founding members and contributors. That is how I like to view myself, a founding member and steward for building and maintaining a community that rewards creativity, consistency, and contributing well to our community and the greater community our art reaches.

I started noticing how successful the concepts of streaks are from apps like Duolingo. People come to feel a sense of accomplishment from continuing to practice every day and gaining recognition for that practice. And so I impromptu started to reward myself and my friends within our little group chat with a streak counter on how consistently we were uploading week after week. Inevitably, after each upload, we congratulated each other and offered suggestions for improvement and sometimes slightly brutal critiques of thumbnails and titles. Feedback is not always easy to take. But it is vital to growth.

If you are interested in trying out this new community of ours, send me a message and I’ll send you the link. From the time you join, you’ll have 1 month to post your first video and we’ll do our best to encourage you and support you in continuing from there on and out.

Keep creating or starting creating. It’s good for you.

Take care,

Naser
